Moving Families Forward through SNAP Employment and Training


In March, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced a proposed rule to provide more Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants the dignity of work through improved Employment and Training services.  This rule will strengthen the way states serve SNAP recipients through Employment and Training. The proposal was announced at Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) in Baltimore, Maryland where they teach low-income adults and workers the skills they need to earn a living wage, connect job seekers with good jobs in the manufacturing sector, and foster the life skills that create a path out of poverty.

The 2020 SNAP E&T National Forum, hosted by USDA on Oct. 13-15, 2020, brought together 1700 SNAP E&T stakeholders from across the country to share and learn best practices for promoting and increasing employment among SNAP households through state SNAP E&T programs.
