NSDUH is an annual survey of the U.S. civilian, noninstitutionalized population ages 12 years or older. The combined 2015 and 2016 NSDUH reports provide state estimates for 29 measures of substance use and mental health outcomes. State and regional estimates are based on a small area estimation (SAE) methodology in which state-level NSDUH data are combined with county and sub-county level census data from the state.
The 2015-2016 NSDUH State Prevalence Estimates provide prevalence estimates and 95% confidence intervals for people ages 12 or older, 12 to 17, 18 to 25, and 26 or older. There are also estimates for people ages 12 to 20 for two alcohol measures. All CSV files can be downloaded.

The 2015-2016 NSDUH state-specific tables provide prevalence estimates for each state and estimated totals by age group, along with tables for the four census regions and the entire United States. You can access data for the entire United States, each state, or each region through the report’s table of contents.

State and regional estimates are based on a small area estimation methodology in which state-level NSDUH data are combined with county and census block group/tract-level data from the state.
