America’s National Scenic, Historic, and Recreation Trails
There are 11 National Scenic Trails and 19 National Historic Trails, totaling more than 55,000 miles. The Forest Service serves as the lead agency for six national trails, in additional to managing portions of 16 other National Scenic and Historic Trails, and numerous National Recreation Trails.
