Products

NOAA's Paleoclimatology Program has assembled the following products from our large archive of paleoclimatology data. These products provide information needed to understand and effectively model interannual to centennial-scale environmental variability.

PaST (Paleoenvironmental Standard Terms) Thesaurus

The World Data Service for Paleoclimatology defines measured variables using a thesaurus of standard terms. These terms describe the quantity measured, the material on which it was measured, reported error, units, analytical or statistical methods, transformations made to raw data, reconstructed seasonality, data type, and data format. Standard terms organize heterogeneous paleoclimate datasets and improve the findability, interoperability, and reusability of data.

Living Blended Drought Atlas (LBDA)

Blended instrumental and reconstructed gridded PMDI drought indices for the continental United States for the past 2,000 years.  Half degree gridded Jun-Aug PMDI reconstructions from Cook et al. (2010) recalibrated using the Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCN) 5km grid PMDI data. The 5km data were first upscaled to match the original half-degree grid.
