Why the 2020 Census Matters for Your School

The results of the 2020 Census will inform decisions about allocating hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding to communities across the country. That includes funding and support for school programs and services such as:

  • Special education
  • Free and reduced-price lunch
  • Classroom technology
  • Teacher training
  • After-school programs
  • Head Start

This federal funding also supports services that influence a student's readiness for learning, such as maternal and child health programs, as well as housing, heating, and food assistance.
