Overview

This web-based tool calculates projected rates of sea level change for any location along the U.S. coast. The tool can be used to assess vulnerability to future sea level change and to compare several published sea level rise scenarios.

Features

• Produce tables and graphs of projected sea level change
• Compare sea level rise scenarios and plot curves in feet or meters relative to NAVD88 or LMSL
• Select closest NOAA tide gauge, input project dates, and define critical thresholds to develop scenarios

Notes

The calculator was developed under the Comprehensive Evaluation of Projects with Respect to Sea Level Change (CESL) component of the Responses to Climate Change Program. The calculator is also used in the CESL screening-level vulnerability assessments for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) coastal projects. The USACE Sea Level Change Curve Calculator uses the methodology described in Engineer Regulation 1100-2-81626, “Incorporating Sea Level Changes in Civil Works Programs.” The tool also provides comparisons to several scenarios, including those from 6USACE, 4NOAA (2012), 7NRC, 8NPCC, and 1NOAA (2017).
