U.S. Education Department Commemorates 45 Years of the IDEA

WASHINGTON (Dec. 16, 2020) – The U.S. Department of Education honored the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Education for All Handicapped Children Act (Public Law 94-142) into law at the end of November and beginning of December.

The law, which was amended in 1990 to the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act, addresses education, supports and services for infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities and their families.

The IDEA 45th anniversary page highlights the IDEA history, IDEA facts and figures, IDEA resources and IDEA stories from students, parents, teachers, service providers, academics and others.
