Description

This is the pilot program for the A_HSLTP, and will be conducted at the FLETC Charleston, SC facility.  Participation will be limited to 24 and managed through your designated OCC or OGC training officer.  The A_HSLTP will feature courses designed to improve client briefing skills and issue and stakeholder identification.  The course will rely on scenario-based training to deliver pertinent communications and analytical points, as well as include a visit of Fort Sumter.  The goals of the A_HSLTP are to pursue the ideals of "One DHS" mission, practice law from an enterprise perspective and practice communications skills.

Who should attend this program?
Anyone interested in their leadership development potential and that performs functions in a legal services environment.

Who will be in attendance?
Each DHS component and the Office of the General Counsel will be provided the opportunity to send staff members to this program.

Who are the presenters?
John Besselman of the FLETC Office of Chief Counsel will coordinate and provide instruction for this program.  He will be joined by other senior attorneys from the DHS legal community.

How often will this program be offered?
This program will be offered twice a year. Once in October and once in April annually.

What is the dress code?
Business casual.

Are there text books?
No.

Is there pre-work I have to complete before attending the program?"
No.

Why is the tuition an estimate?
The tuition is determined by the overall cost of the training (use of the FLETC facilities, course materials and transportation costs for the Fort Sumter tour divided) by the number of participants. No more than 24 participants will be permitted to attend the program. We are striving to keep the cost of this program as low as possible.

What are the times for the program?
The training time for the A_HSLTP will be strictly timed. The training day will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. (though the first day is not scheduled to begin until 2:00 p.m.)  All other training days will begin at 9:00 a.m. promptly. The training day will end at 4:00 p.m.
