IRS Criminal Investigation

Christopher J. Altemus Jr. was appointed Director of the National Criminal Investigation Training Academy (NCITA) for IRS Criminal Investigation, on November 26, 2018.  Mr. Altemus is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and delivering a full range of world-class learning and educational products and programs that include basic training, advanced training, use of force training, leadership development training and international training.  The overall goal of the various training programs that NCITA supports is to improve IRS Criminal Investigation individual and organizational workforce performance through the incorporation of the IRS Criminal Investigation. IRS Criminal Investigation’s mission is to serve the American public by investigating potential criminal violations of the Internal Revenue Code and related financial crimes in a manner that fosters confidence in the tax system and compliance with the law.

Mr. Altemus began his law enforcement career as a special agent assigned to the Philadelphia Field Office in July 2002. He has since served in numerous leadership positions, Including Supervisory Special Agent in the Raleigh Post of Duty, Senior Analyst Operations Policy & Support, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Charlotte Field Office, and Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Nashville Field Office. Mr. Altemus holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Saint Joseph’s University.
