Welcome to the Notify U.S. Web site. Notify U.S. is a free, web-based e-mail registration service that offers U.S. entities (citizens, industries, organizations) an opportunity to review and comment on proposed foreign technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures (CAPs) that can affect their businesses and their access to international markets. This service and its associated web site are managed and operated by the USA WTO TBT Enquiry Point in the Standards Coordination Office, an organization within the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). NIST is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC).

Purpose

The purpose of Notify U.S. is to provide to its subscribers access to key information included in the notifications made by members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) under the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT Agreement), and to collect and fulfill subscriber requests for information related to those notifications. WTO members are required under the TBT Agreement to notify to the WTO certain proposed technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures (CAPs) concerning manufactured products, industrial goods, and/or the labeling of products, including food and beverage products, that could affect trade with other WTO members. The WTO TBT Secretariat issues these notifications so that all members have an opportunity to review and comment on notified actions prior to their finalization and entry into force. Notify U.S. allows users to create a custom profile in order to follow, review, and comment on WTO TBT notifications by country and/or product sector of interest to them.

Users

The Notify U.S. Service allows users to create a custom profile to receive an e-mail alert when one or more TBT notifications by member and in the selected product sector(s) of interest are added to Notify U.S. Included in a user’s e-mail alert is a list of new notifications and their basic details (notification symbol, issue date, title, final date for comments), as well as a link to the Notify U.S. web site. The user can log in and view further details about a specific notification, and also request full-texts that are not provided by the member when the notification is issued. When a requested text is added to Notify U.S., the user will receive an e-mail alert indicating that the text is available. At this time, the Notify U.S. Service is only available to users who are U.S. citizens and individuals that are part of U.S. based organizations and industries.

Registered users can access the Notify U.S. Service by entering an authorized Email address and password in the Sign In form. Any individual who needs access and does not have or has not been assigned an account and a password, can select this Register Link to create an account for registering to this service. Users that have forgotten their account and/or password or have had their account disabled, can use this Forgot Password Link to request that their account be re-enabled or their password reset.
