The United States Government does not plan to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to private U.S. citizens overseas. Please follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination.

Country-Specific Information:

  •  Do not travel to Kosovo due to Covid-19. Kosovo is under a Level 4 Health Advisory – Do Not Travel.
  • The health situation continues to deteriorate. U.S. citizens are reporting equipment shortages and a lack of space available at local and regional hospitals. It is possible that regional and European land and/or air border restrictions could be re-imposed with little notice.

  • If you are in Kosovo and have COVID-19 related questions, believe you are symptomatic, or need information regarding testing, please call toll free 038 200 80 800, or dial 194.
  • Movement is prohibited from 19:00-05:00, except for emergency needs, which include health, security and justice personnel.
  • Restaurants and bars are closed from 19:00-05:00.

 Entry and Exit Requirements:

  • Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes.
  • Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? All foreign citizens entering the Republic of Kosovo (RKS), who come from high risk countries according to the official list of ECDC, must prove through the RT-PCR test in Sars COV-2 that they result negative on COVID-19, based on the principle of reciprocity.  There is no need for confirmation for negative RT-PCR test, if the foreign citizen is transiting and country and will leave within 3 hours, however they are obliged to present the plane ticket and sign the declaration that within 3 hours they will leave the territory of RKS.
  • Are health screening procedures in place at airports and other ports of entry? Yes.
  • Residents and/or tourists seeking a visa extension should contact the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
  • The Pristina International Airport is open to all travelers.
  • The U.S. Embassy does not track or coordinate flights into or out of Kosovo; please contact the airport, airline, or your travel agent directly.
  • Neither U.S. nor Kosovo citizens can enter the EU as of June 28, 2020. This travel ban does not include passengers in transit, but often transit is limited to one country within the EU and/or Schengen Zone. Check with the airlines, airports, and the U.S. Embassies located in your countries of transit to verify entry/exit requirements and be aware that they can change frequently and without warning.
  • Kosovo’s land borders remain open but a negative RT-PCR test, taken within the last 72 hours is required. Those without a negative RT-PCR test are required to self-isolate for 7 days.
  • Check the entry/exit requirements for each country before crossing international land borders.

Movement Restrictions:

  • Is a curfew in place? Yes.
  • There are curfews in place from 19:00-05:00.
  • Are there restrictions on intercity or interstate travel? Yes, Kosovo is divided into 3 risk category areas. Individuals in a high risk area may not move from their area after the curfew goes in to effect.

Quarantine Information:

  • As U.S. Citizens required to quarantine? Travelers who enter Kosovo without a negative RT-PCR test, taken within the last 72 hours, are required to self-isolate for 7 days.

COVID-19 Testing:

  • There is limited testing through public institutions.
  • Private clinics have been authorized to conduct testing for a limited period.

 Transportation Options:

  • Are commercial flights operating? Yes.
  • Is public transportation operating? Yes, at 50% of capacity: only one passenger per taxi.
  • Masks are required.

 Fines for Non-Compliance:

  • Hefty fines and prison sentences are being issued for non-compliance with mask wearing requirements.
