Executive Order 13563 and 13610On January 18, 2011, in Executive Order 13563, the President directed each agency to review their "existing significant regulations, and consider how best to promote retrospective analysis of rules that may be outmoded, ineffective, insufficient, or excessively burdensome, and to modify, streamline, expand, or repeal them in accordance with what has been learned." On May 10, 2012, in Executive Order 13610, the President directed each agency to take continuing steps to reassess regulatory requirements and, where appropriate, to streamline, improve, or eliminate those requirements. The President institutionalized retrospective review of regulations in Executive Orders 13563 and 13610, requiring agencies to regularly report on the status of their retrospective review efforts. The most recent agency reports can be found below. In response to 13563, Commerce created and released a preliminary plan for review of its regulations on May 26, 2011. Commerce welcomed the public's comments and feedback on this preliminary plan through July 25, 2011. Commerce published the final version of its regulatory review plan on August 22, 2011, which incorporated responses to public comments and new information about recent accomplishments. In July 2013, Commerce began publishing a combined report that contain the updates for both 13563 and 13610 to ensure the public could find in one place the prograss is making on both Executive Orders. In promoting transparency Commerce continues to publish routine status and updates. The latest updates in the EO 13563 and EO 13610 progress report can be found in the table below.
