CITI Animal Research Training

For each Animal Use Protocol Application, the Principal Investigator and every individual who will be taking part in study activities are required to complete training through CITI every 5 years. 

Investigators and participants must complete the CITI “Working with the IACUC” course for Investigators, Staff, and Students.

Investigators and participants must also complete all species specific courses that pertain to the protocols they will be participating in.  

IACUC Committee Members are required to take the CITI “IACUC Chairs, Members, and Coordinators”

To register:

  • Go to CITI Login
  • Click “Register”
  • Complete registration steps as directed, using The University of North Texas (Denton, TX) as your “Participating Institution”.
  • Once you have finalized registration, the courses you selected should appear on your main menu.
  • You and the IACUC Administrator will receive a completion certificate upon successful completion of all required modules.

Risk Management Required Training for Animal Related Work

Risk Management Services Biosafety Training

Risk Management Services requires training specific to the materials and procedures of each study and their associated lab environment such as Biosafety Training, Bloodborne Pathogen Training, Animal Safety Training, etc., to ensure compliance and health and safety of students, faculty, and staff.  Principal Investigators are responsible for ensuring the appropriate trainings are taken by all key personnel prior to study initiation or participation.
