What is the Student Alumni Association?
The UNT Student Alumni Association (SAA) is funded by and is a program of the University of North Texas Alumni Association. Throughout the school year, we host various social and professional events to help you better navigate college and your anticipated career. We are a dues-paying organization; an annual membership is $20 and a life membership, which gives you a membership in SAA and a life membership in the alumni association when you graduate is $500 or $75 each semester for eight consecutive semesters. With your membership, you get exclusive membership benefits, including entrance to all of our events and access to the Tradition Keeper, containing 50+ campus traditions within the “UNT Alumni” app. If you complete 40 of the 50 traditions by the time you graduate, you will become a UNT Tradition Keeper and receive a personalized medallion to wear at graduation. By participating in the UNT Tradition Keeper program, you get to explore the hidden treasures on campus and have the ultimate Mean Green experience all while documenting your time on campus.
Do we have monthly meetings?
Currently, we do not have monthly meetings; however, we do have events each month where you will get to engage with other Student Alumni Association members, including our SAA Ambassador leadership group and UNT Alumni Association staff. We will make sure you stay up to date on all of our activities throughout the year.
I missed the First Flight Week SAA Event; can I still pick up my membership items?
Yes, you can stop by the UNT Alumni Center (Gateway 170) between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday to pick up your membership t-shirt!
Can I bring my friend who is not in the Student Alumni Association to an event?
Throughout the year, we will have events that are open to non-Student Alumni Association members, such as our networking workshop and Dinner with a Dozen.. If you would like to bring a friend to a Student Alumni Association Members-only event, please contact our advisor at alumni@unt.edu.
How can I get more involved?
If you are looking for leadership opportunities, you can apply to serve as a SAA Ambassador. These students are selected through an interview and application process each April. The Student Alumni Ambassadors are the official student group representing the UNT Student Alumni Association (SAA). Responsibilities include serving as ambassadors at Alumni Association events, engaging current students through SAA, and educating the UNT community about the Alumni Association’s impact. When can I join the Student Alumni Association?
You can join the Student Alumni Association at any point in time. You can complete our online membership form or stop by the UNT Alumni Center (Gateway 170) to complete a paper copy.
How do I participate in the UNT Tradition Keeper?
The UNT Student Alumni Association is all about achieving the fullest Mean Green experience. Through social, networking and professional development events, we connect members to their peers, accomplished alumni and UNT leaders.
And, through our Tradition Keeper program, members explore one-of-a-kind UNT traditions. As an SAA member, you’ll have access to our free “UNT Alumni” smartphone app, available through iTunes and Google Play. As you complete traditions, take photos and document your experiences in your book or through the app.
Become a UNT Tradition Keeper by checking off 40 or more campus traditions in the app to achieve the “Gold Level”. UNT Tradition Keepers receive a medallion to wear at their graduation. Achieving 25 completed traditions qualifies you for the white Experience level. Recipients are recognized with an honorary Tradition Keeper Lapel pin. The number of UNT Tradition Keepers grows every year. Start fulfilling the traditions today, because those are the memories you will talk about for years to come.
