COVID-19 Updates & UNT Resources

View archived COVID-19 updates sent to campus community email addresses and access resources geared toward UNT students, faculty, and staff as well as recommendations on how to stay safe and healthy during the pandemic.

Virtual Diversity & Inclusion Training

We have partnered with UNT System to provide all UNT World employees multiple online opportunities to explore diversity, equity, inclusion, and access. The virtual resources serve as primers for Diversity & Inclusion’s in-person, interactive learning and development sessions which will resume as soon as possible.

Virtual Programs & Services

The Division of Student Affairs launched a "virtual platform for current and future Eagles to CONNECT ~ ENGAGE ~ INSPIRE~ COMMUNICATE." Resources include links to health and wellness, student life and support, and senior celebrations.

DACA Related Updates and Resources

Mariela Nuñez-Janes from the Department of Anthropology recommended the following links to learn more about how COVID-19 has affected DACA. Some highlights include:

  • Supreme Court may still release a decision about DACA no later than June 2020 despite the cancellation of oral arguments in March.
  • USCIS has suspended all in-person services until May 3.
  • It is encouraged that all DACA holders that are eligible for renewal do so now.
  • DACA recipients with valid work authorization may be eligible for unemployment benefits in TX
  • To be eligible for the CARES Act, individual filers and spouses filing jointly must have valid social security numbers. Children claimed as dependents must also have valid social security numbers.
  • Testing, prevention, or treatment for COVID-19 will not count against the public charge test.
  • Raices is offering a scholarship for DACA renewals.

Consult with student legal services and local non-profits that offer low-cost or free DACA renewals: Opening Doors International Services in Denton North Texas Dream Team in Dallas.

Please remember that our students who pay in-state tuition under SB1528 may or may not have DACA and our U.S. Citizen or permanent-resident students may live in mixed-status families.
