iTunes

  1. Click menu button -“Preferences” – “Playback” tab
  2. Check box to “Show closed captioning when available” and click “ok”

YouTube

IF the video has captioning enabled, the following video will show you how to turn captioning OFF or ON. Also provided are steps to add captioning to your YouTube video.

QuickTime Player

  1. Click “Edit” - “Preferences” – “QuickTime Preferences”
  2. Under “General” – “Movies” select “Show closed captioning when available”
  3. Click “Apply” then “OK”

RealPlayer

  1. Click “RealPlayer” – “Preferences”
  2. Select “DVD” settings category
  3. Within “Content” section select “Enable closed captions” and click “OK”

VLC Media Player

  1. Right-click within the video window and select “Subtitle” – “Closed captions1”

Windows Media Player

  1. Right-click within the video window and select “Lyrics, captions, and subtitles” – “Defaults”
  2. In the “Default Language Settings” window choose “(Closed Captions)” for “Lyrics, captions, and subtitles” section and click “OK”
