Ray Walls joined North Texas in 2018 to lead the Mean Green's Academic Services.

Originally from Kentwood, Louisiana, Walls began his career in collegiate athletics in 2009 after being selected for the NCAA Post Graduate Internship, in which he served in Diversity and Inclusion. In 2010, he worked at TCU as a graduate assistant in academic services, providing support to the Horned Frogs football team. Over the next eight years, Walls worked his way to to become TCU's assistant athletic director for academic services, before being hired by UNT.

Walls was a student-athlete at Southern Miss, where he played on the Golden Eagles football team. A defensive back, Walls also played five seasons in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts.

He earned a bachelor's degree in sports administration at Southern Miss and a master's in counseling at TCU.
