Greetings from the President

Williams NewIn the decades since my days as a student at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, this institution has evolved into one of the most respected health science centers in the country – still training students for careers in medicine, but broadening its impact into related health professions, public health leadership, scientific research and discovery, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care. I’ve watched the evolution of UNTHSC with pride as a graduate and as a member of the UNT System Board of Regents. I have seen first-hand the commitment to the growth and excellence of this institution from the faculty and staff, from the leadership of the Fort Worth community, from alumni, and from the Chancellor and Board.

Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” and education is at the core of who we are. What the UNT Health Science Center does in the months and years ahead – with the excitement of a new semester, the commitment and focus of our leadership, the launch of exciting new programs and the engagement of new ideas – will shape this institution and will touch lives for many decades to come.

I’m eager to roll up my sleeves to work with you to ensure that we continue on an ever positive trajectory.

I’m humbled to be able to serve you as we move ahead together with confidence.

Michael R. Williams, DO, MD, MBA
President TCOM ‘81
