Policy description: 

Regular faculty and staff members of the University are required as a condition of employment to be a member of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas. An Optional Retirement Program is available for "full-time faculty", in lieu of participating in the Teacher Retirement System. Employees are also required to participate in the Old-Age and Survivor's Insurance (Social Security) Program.
