How to Report Things

Learn more about how you can report potential abuse on Facebook.

The best way to report abusive content or spam on Facebook is by using the Report link that appears near the content itself. Here are some examples of how you can report content to us:

To report a profile:

  1. Go to the profile you want to report
  2. In the bottom right of the cover photo, click and select Report
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions

To report a post:

  1. Click in the top right of the post you want to report and select I don't want to see this
  2. Click Why don't you want to see this?
  3. Choose the option that best describes the issue and follow the on-screen instructions

To report something someone posted on your Timeline:

  1. In the top right of the post, click
  2. Select I don't like this post
  3. Select I think it shouldn't be on Facebook and follow the on-screen instructions

To report a photo or video:

  1. Click on the photo or video to expand it
  2. Click Options in the bottom right
  3. Click Report Photo for photos or Report Video for videos

To report a message:

  1. Open the message you'd like to report
  2. Click Actions in the top right
  3. Click Report Spam or Abuse... and follow the on-screen instructions

To report an abusive Page:

  1. Go to the Page you want to report
  2. Click on the Page's cover photo
  3. Select Report Page and follow the on-screen instructions

We'll review the Page and remove anything that doesn't follow the Facebook Community Standards. We may also warn or disable the person responsible.

If you see a group that you think violates Facebook's terms, you can report it to Facebook. To report a group:

  1. Go to the group you want to report
  2. Click at the top right
  3. Pick Report Group from the dropdown menu

Groups containing drug-related, nudity, or other graphic or sexually suggestive content are not allowed, nor are groups that promote violence or that attack an individual or group. For information about what we allow and don’t allow on Facebook, please read Facebook's Community Standards.

To report an ad:

  1. Hover over the ad and click the X in the top right
  2. Choose Hide this ad to report a specific ad, or Hide all from... to hide all ads from that particular advertiser

You can report an event that doesn't follow our Community Standards by clicking in the top right and then choosing Report Event.

To report a question:

  1. Click in the top right of the question
  2. Select Report to Admin or Report/Mark as Spam

To report a reply to a question, click X, then click Report to report it

If you can't report something on Facebook because you don't have a Facebook account or you can't see whatever you're trying to report, please use a computer to fill out this form.
