The Board of Regents wants the UNT System to be as effective and efficient as possible in delivering services to the campuses. Thus, they want Shared Services to streamline how support functions are delivered to manage service costs better. Essentially, one way of doing things is less expensive than two or three ways of doing the same thing. Two major groups are being affected by the Shared Services initiative: IT personnel and business operations personnel. The purpose is to hold down costs of operating services so that, as much as possible, funding goes to support the primary missions of education, research, and service.
