Davos—the World Economic Forum’s gathering of the world’s most powerful people held every year in a Swiss mountain resort—will be delayed until early summer 2021 because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The weeklong event is one of the largest, most high-profile gatherings of political figures, top CEOs and thought leaders from around the world.
Notable 2020 attendees included President Donald Trump, climate activist Greta Thunberg, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, European Central Bank president Christine Lagarde and billionaire investor George Soros.
The 2021 meeting was originally scheduled for January.
In a statement to the press on Wednesday, the World Economic Forum said that they would hold digital “Davos Dialogues” during the week of January 25.
Details of the rescheduled conference over the summer have not yet been announced.

“The decision was not taken easily, since the need for global leaders to come together to design a common recovery path and shape the ‘Great Reset’ in the post-Covid-19 era is so urgent,” Adrian Monck, the WEF’s managing director of public engagement, said in a statement. “However, the advice from experts is that we cannot do so safely in January.”
