Brenda Sweeten

Bio: 
Brenda Sweeten, LCSW is a Clinical Associate Professor in the University of North Texas Department of Social Work and serves as UNT’s Foster Care Liaison Officer. Brenda earned a MSSW from the University of Texas at Austin and a BSW from Baylor University. Brenda has 24 years of practice experience in the child welfare and judicial system serving child and families. Brenda is very engaged in the local and statewide community serving on a number of boards and advisory councils including Education Reach for Texans, a non-profit that brings together higher education and child welfare professionals from across Texas to share ideas, generate original research, policy and practice recommendations. Brenda, along with a group of amazing foster care alumni students at UNT founded Persevere UNTil Success Happens, or PUSH, in 2012. In her free time, Brenda enjoys watching her daughter play club volleyball, going to the movies, and spending family time with her husband, two children, and their dachshunds.

Taylor Thompson

Bio: 
Taylor Thompson is the new Coordinator of Special Projects. She recently obtained her Master’s degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education. Originally, Taylor is from a small town in Kansas. Prior to attending UNT, Taylor obtained a B.A in Communication Studies and a minor in Spanish from Kansas State University. In her free time, Taylor enjoys rock climbing, embroidery and listening to music. Her all-time favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice and she is currently re-watching “This Is Us”.

Delaney Farris

Position Title: PUSH Program Graduate Assistant

Bio: 
Delaney Farris is a first-year graduate student at UNT. She is pursuing her Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration in hopes of continuing work on college campuses. Delaney received her B.A. in Sociology and Anthropology from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. After graduation, she began a role of service with FoodCorps AmeriCorps as a garden and nutrition educator in elementary schools. Once her two-year term ended, Delaney decided she would try out the Texan life. When not in class or serving alongside those in PUSH, you can find Delaney spending time outdoors or at a craft store. She has a sweet old cat, two gerbils, and an awesome partner she gets to experience life with! Currently, she is reading "Bad Feminist" by Roxane Gay and she is loving the show "The Good Place."
