Bio: 

Denise Amy Baxter received her MA and PhD in Art History with a Women's Studies doctoral emphasis from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She is currently serving as Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs for the College of Visual Arts and Design and she is a Professor of Art History and Women's and Gender Studies affiliated faculty member. She teaches courses and supervises research on European art of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, history of photography, gender and the visual arts, and theories and methods of art history. Her research focuses on the relationships between material culture and the constitution of the modern self.
