Hailed by the New York Times and Opera News for his “distinctive, honeyed timbre, smooth coloratura, secure technique and for his superb command of line and text” countertenor, Daniel Bubeck has earned an international reputation on the opera and concert stage, performing in major concert halls, opera houses and music festivals throughout the world: Carnegie Hall, Het Concertgebouw, Barbican Centre, Konzerthaus, Théâtre Musical de Paris-Châtelet, English National Opera, Avery Fischer Hall, Walt Disney Hall, Suntory Hall, music festivals in Lucerne, Adelaide and Beijing.   As a guest soloist he has sung with esteemed organizations such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, Tokyo Symphony, Moscow National Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony, London Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Boston Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Holland Radio Orchestra, Estonian National Philharmonic, Orchestra of St. Lukes, Concerto Köln, American Classical Orchestra and American Bach Soloists.  He has had the privilege of collaborating with leading conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Gustavo Dudamel, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vladimir Jurowski, Kent Nagano, David Robertson, Robert Spano, Christopher Hogwood, Nicholas McGegan and John Adams.

Career highlights include the world premieres of John Adams’ Nativity and Passion oratorios, El Niño and The Gospel According to the Other Mary as well as over forty subsequent productions, the American premiere of the oratorio, Lost Objects music by David Lang, Julia Wolfe Michael Gordon (Brooklyn Academy of Music), Oberon in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hawaii Opera Theater), soloist on the soundtrack of the Warner Bros. thriller, I am Legend, numerous performances of Bach’s St. John and St. Matthew Passions and operas and oratorios of Handel: Giulio Cesare, Rinaldo, Orlando, Serse, Flavio, Partenope, Messiah, Israel in Egypt, Saul, Solomon, and Theodora.

Upcoming Performances in the 2019/20 season include Handel’s Messiah with Dallas Bach Society, El Niño with the Houston Symphony and Cincinnati May Festival and the role of Ottone in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea with Opera Delaware.

Mr. Bubeck joined the voice faculty of UNT in the Fall of 2018.  Prior to UNT he taught at the University of Alabama and Molloy College on Long Island.  He has given masterclasses at Indiana University, Indianapolis Opera, University of Delaware, Skidmore College and University of Southern Maine and was a recipient of the 2015 NATS Teaching Internship Program.  He holds Doctoral and Masters degrees in voice from Indiana University, a Performer Diploma and Opera Certificate from Peabody Institute and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Delaware.
