Research

Every day, faculty and student researchers in the Department of Biological Sciences make medical discoveries, develop new technologies, and improve environmental sustainability and quality of life. This groundbreaking work is enhanced by our new $40 million Life Sciences Complex and recent $25 million dollar investment in creating collaborative research clusters.

Our research is supported through numerous public- and private-sector sources. Departmental research resources include basic biological instrumentation, common instrument areas with facilities for proteomic and genomic research, an instrument shop, darkrooms, greenhouses, aquatics lab with freshwater and saltwater tanks, an aquatic field station, and land and water vehicles.
