I was scheduled for a tour. I showed up on time / ahead of time as requested. Watched a video about how/what the library does. Got me excited. Then the tour started-late because people show up late. Then I spent the next 30 min bored with our tour guide because she went on and on about the the construction, and what each cherub means on the stair case - she spent way to much time on how a book was made. I didn't see any of the interesting stuff they showed on the video - I could tell a lot of people on the tour felt the same ... I had to break off from the tour to finish talking photos of the building and barely made my text tour time at the capital. Skip the guided tour - just go in for the photos

I forced my kids to accompany me all over the place this week because 1. I have no interest in navigating public transit and therefore 2. They have to act responsible while I play on my phone, so... Win/Win. Anyway, THIS was my favorite place, architecturally. The Library of Congress is so beautiful. I could have stayed for a half day, just staring at the walls and ceilings. Photos are allowed with the exception of anything encased, and you'll be amazed at the collection here.... The Civil Rights section was particularly interesting to me. As for the kids, they didn't hate this place. In fact they found things to do while I browsed. However, this wouldn't keep their interest for too long. I was able to spend about an hour here before my 12 and 15 year old were ready to leave me. Unfortunately, when you decide to leave the parental duties of touring cities via subway to your children, you're also at their mercy if you actually want to get back home. Highly recommend without the kids!

It was an amazing experience! I was moved beyond words with the Civil Rights and Gershwin exhibits and there are no words to describe Jefferson's Library. Thank you for the chuckle provided in seeing Dr. Seuss and Jack Kerouac works displayed together! I only had time for the Jefferson Building. I can't wait to return to explore the Madison and Adams Buildings. Thank you for caring for our treasures and having exhibits that evoke careful thought and reflection.

I came in with my niece during a business trip looking for a place to read and work. No such space were available without a regular reading card. They sent us to the youth reading room which we really enjoyed. I recommend having a space, even if small, for visitors looking for a reading space.

I wasn't sure what to expect when my husband scheduled this tour (sent here after not being able to get into The White House). However, I was pleasantly surprised. Our tour guide was Vic, a very nice, knowledgeable, and comical gentleman. The beauty in the library is breathtaking. This is even better if you're a book nerd like myself. Seeing originals of some of my favorite works was an honor. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

As a Librarian, a pilgrimage to our holiest of Hokies is mandatory- at least I think so! I was in D.C. For the Women's March on Washington. A fellow librarian and I had our picture snapped in front of the LOC! And then we marched for freedom and human rights!!! Fantastic day and just the first step of many to come.

Thank you LOC for being a repository of truth, wisdom, history, and above all, FACTS!!!!!!

The building itself is remarkable. We were placed inside a sideroom to watch a short video about the LOC history; however, sitting space was limited, so we had to stand like so many others. The docent showed us pictures from a binder as part of the tour, which was rather boring and difficult to see. Finally, we decided to go off on our own, which worked out better.

Everyone should visit the library of Congress at some point in time and get the researcher pass to go in and just sit in this most majestic place.

Gorgeous building, friendly staff, can't wait to go back. It was on my bucket list and well worth the trip from SC to experience it.

This is the biggest library in the world and is one of the places where you can understand a lot about foundation of US of America and principal of the modern republic.
