The University of North Texas Wind Studies faculty are excited to announce the conversion of the annual summer Conductors Collegium to an online-only format, hosted from June 8th through 19th, 2020.
Addressing the need—now more than ever—to find ways to connect and grow as conductors, the North Texas Conductors Collegium: Virtual Edition presents an opportunity for instrumental music educators of all levels from around the world to meet and discuss common goals, shared concerns, and practical solutions with colleagues and performers. The format is designed to allow maximum flexibility in examining topics that are of paramount interest to the participants.
Lecture Discussions will include topics such as masterworks, score study, repertoire and programming, rehearsal techniques, conducting fundamentals, educational philosophy, and will include live discussions with world-renowned guest conductors and composers including Leonard Slatkin, H. Robert Reynolds, Frank Battisti, Mallory Thompson, Barry Green, Cindy McTee, and Jack Stamp.
Conducting Sessions will include group and individual coachings on select masterowkrs with the Collegium Faculty. The goal of the Collegium is to help participants expand their perspectives and deepen their artistry by providing an environment that creates a positive opportunity for dialogue, investigation, and exchange.
Participants can choose to register for the Morning Module (Lecture Discussions), the Afternoon Module (Conducting Sessions), or choose to register for both of the modules. The fee for each module includes all twelve days of instruction.
Public school educators are especially encouraged to attend the Conductors Collegium. In conjunction with the UNT Professional Development Institute, our faculty are equipped to approve up to ninety (90) continuing education hours for full participation. Individuals attending a select portion of the Collegium may receive a prorated allotment based on instructional hours completed. Our workshop conforms to the SBEC standard for continuing education credits toward re-certification and we offer this service at no additional fee to participants.
