Bryan Stevens is a PhD candidate in music theory with a related field in music history at the University of North Texas, where he has taught a range of theory and aural skills courses for both music majors and non-majors.

His research is currently focused on the development of the Spanish keyboard sonata throughout the eighteenth century. He has presented at numerous conferences, including the Texas Society for Music Theory, the Southwest Chapter of American Musicological Society, Music Theory Midwest, and Florida State University Music Theory Forum, and will present his latest research at the upcoming Society for Music Theory’s national conference in Columbus, OH. In addition to his research and teaching experience, Bryan has served as president, program coordinator, and treasurer for UNTs Graduate Association of Musicologist und Theorists (GAMuT); three-time conference co-coordinator for the GAMuT Graduate Student Conference; and student representative on a search committee for an Assistant Professor in Music Theory. In 2017 he received “Outstanding Graduate Student in Music Theory.”

In addition to his academic interests, Bryan enjoys spending time with his family, playing piano, and going on deep dives down Wikipedia rabbit holes.
