Student Research at UNT

Participating in research enriches the education process through learning, discovery and professional development. UNT students have the opportunity to work with top research faculty and research staff, present their research, and apply for external funding support.

Honors college programs

McNair Scholars Program — funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. It supports juniors and seniors who are low-income, first generation, and/or underrepresented in graduate education for doctoral education and provides the opportunity to participate in research with a faculty mentor.

UNT Undergraduate Research Fellowship — approximately 250 Undergraduate Research Fellowships, each funded at $500 provides support for students who show promise of significantly contributing to faculty-led research programs.

UNT Scholars Day — celebrates the work of undergraduate researchers at UNT. All UNT students are encouraged to participate and do not need to be members of the Honors College to present.

Graduate Student Resources

Toulouse Graduate School — provides resources for graduate students, including travel grants to present research, research awards, writing resources, workshops, and other support services essential for graduate student success.

Research Courses — students involved with research should complete the Responsible Conduct of Research Training, Online CITI Training, and Safety courses. Ask your faculty mentor which course is right for you.

Consider applying for the prestigious programs, including the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, Ford Foundation Fellowship Program, or determine if you are eligible for NIH training opportunities.
