Graduate Assistantships

 

A limited number of graduate assistantships are awarded each school year.  Doctoral-level students may apply for and be placed with faculty in teaching or research positions. The selection process is very competitive and subject to students meeting the following conditions:

  • Academic Merit
  • Good academic standing in all courses and good progress toward a degree. 
  • Responsibility and reliability based on previous evaluation in case of reappointment as assessed by supervising faculty or staff.
  • Collegiality and ability to take and follow directions and work constructively as a team member.

The graduate assistantship term of employment is semester to semester. A limited number of positions may be available in the summer. These are salaried positions that require an average of 20 hours a week and could be required to be onsite at Discovery Park between the hours of  8 am – 5 pm, Monday- Friday. All interested students must complete the Application for Graduate Assistantship form and return it to LT-PHD@unt.edu. The application should be addressed to the Department Chair, Dr. Tandra Tyler-Wood. Applications must be received by November 15 for spring consideration and June 15 for fall consideration. Positions are open until filled.
