Getting Started

Undergraduate

If you are already a UNT student, you can register for classes offered at the CHEC the same way you do for other UNT classes.

Prospective students must first apply to UNT.

  • Let us know you're interested in classes at the CHEC!
You do not have to be a current UNT student to explore how taking classes at the CHEC can meet your needs. You can schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor or transfer counselor at the CHEC to get more information about transferring credits and degree programs UNT offers. Just email your request to chec.unt.edu. Be sure to let us know what day and time you prefer to meet at the CHEC.
  • Complete UNT’s undergraduate admission process.
The fastest and most efficient way to apply for admission to UNT is to complete the ApplyTexas application. You will be a UNT Denton student even though your degree program and courses in McKinney are at the CHEC. Therefore, when you are completing the admission application, you indicate Denton as the UNT campus. Information about requirements, fees, and important deadlines is available at UNT Admissions.
  • Schedule a UNT Orientation Session
Once you have been accepted into UNT, you need to schedule an orientation session. During orientation, students choose which courses they will take their first semester, learn about UNT’s online registration system, and meet individually with an advisor to discuss their degree plan. You should bring your transcripts to orientation along with your admission packet. If you are a new student and interested in participating in orientation at the CHEC, please let us know by emailing chec@unt.edu. More information, including orientation dates, may be found at UNT Orientation.
