Computational Resources on South Asian Languages: UNT Faculty from Linguistics, Information Science, Computer Science, and Anthropology are partnering with the UNT Digital Library to create a repository for South Asian languages at UNT. This repository will house data in formats that can be easily accessed and used by non-linguists and linguists for a range of purposes including language science, computational linguistics, language reclamation and revitalization, language teaching, and investigations into diverse cultures and histories.
International Conference on Sino-Tibetan Languages and Linguistics (ICSTLL 53)
The International Conference on Sino-Tibetan Languages and Linguistics (ICSTLL 53) is the premier meeting for linguistic researchers on Sino-Tibetan language family, a family with over 400 languages and second only to IndoEuropean in numbers of speakers worldwide.
DFW Metroplex Linguistics Conference
This is a one-day linguistics conference, in cooperation with three other institutions of higher learning around the DFW Metroplex. Faculty and students from the University of Texas at Arlington, University of North Texas-Denton, UNT Dallas, Dallas International University, and Texas A&M University-Commerce will be presenting talks and posters.
LEPI Meetings
Language Endangerment and Political Instability: This NSF-funded conference on language endangerment and political instability uses overlapping methodology, data, and case studies from Linguistics and Political Science to investigate how government policies, war and other forms of conflict, forced migration, and displacement due to territorial disputes create intersecting causes and consequences of political instability and language endangerment.
MIRS
The Multidisciplinary Information Research Symposium (MIRS) is an annual symposium that showcases the work of scholars and practitioners researching information and its impact on people. One of the primary goals of MIRS is to encourage and empower participants who are new to scholarly communication. Therefore, graduate and undergraduate students at all levels and early professionals are highly encouraged to submit their work.
PPTELL
The 3rd Pan-Pacific Technology Enhance Language Learning (PPTELL 2020) is organized by University of North Texas (UNT) and National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). PPTELL 2020 will be held at the Gateway Center, University of North Texas, USA, from June 29th to July 1st, 2020 (Monday to Wednesday). The conference theme is “Expanding Global Horizon through Technology Enhanced Language Learning” aiming to uncover the important issues in language learning and teaching in the intelligent, digital era. “Connectivity” is a contemporary style of learning and living. By engaging in the connectivity of physical and digital worlds, how essential parts of language learning and teaching can be achieved? To answer the question, plenty of inspiring activities are included in PPTELL 2020 to enlighten cross-disciplinary dialogue and collaboration, including keynote speeches, paper presentations and poster section, and technology showcase. PPTELL 2020 will be a platform for knowledge and experience exchange among researchers, educators, and practitioners.
