Biography:

Sarah E. Minnis, PhD is an experience scholar-practitioner with more than 25 years’ experience in higher education administration, career coaching, and organization development with more than 12 years spent addressing veterans’ education and employment in higher education and employment settings. As a recognized leader in veterans’ career transition research and practice Sarah has published and presented nationally and internationally on her research and expertise addressing veterans’ transition and career development. Through her research, Sarah has developed a support model and strategies to help employers better understand the value veterans bring to civilian employment communities. Sarah is an Assistant Professor of Human Resources at Western Carolina University and consults regularly with higher education and human resource organizations on veterans’ career transition challenges. Sarah earned her Doctorate in Educational Human Resource Development at Texas A&M University, her master’s degree in Student Affairs at Western Kentucky University, and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Central Washington University. For her work in support of veterans, Sarah is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Western Association of Veteran Education Specialists and the Supra et Extra Award from the NASPA Veterans Knowledge Community.
