Clay Rivenbark M.F.A.

Adjunct Professor

Clay Rivenbark’s professional graphic design career has been based in Dallas for 35 years where he has functioned as an owner and creative director in various creative design environments. Forming M2 Design in 1986, his thirty-five year professional career includes design for print, product display, packaging, corporate exhibition, and restaurant collateral programs as well as art and creative direction, manufacturing and selling marketing services domestically.

As an educator he has taught courses in Foundation to Senior Portfolio in Graphic Design and Multimedia. Clay Rivenbark is committed to providing students with real world opportunities in businesses, and other institutions from which they can experience how design can make a difference in people’s lives.

In 1999 he was appointed as the School of Design Coordinator at the Art Institute of Dallas. He worked closely with the President of the School, Director of Education and five department directors implementing documentation which resulted in the schools accreditation awarded by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Other duties entailed working with department directors on curriculum development, scheduling of classes, student retention, text selection, budgeting for new equipment, redesign of student displays and designing a new school catalog. In 2009 and 2010 he participated and implemented documentation for the Director of the Visual Communications at Westwood College for the Visual Communication program on two successful Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation inspections.

Previously before joining the faculty at The Mayborn School of Journalism he was an Online Instructor and Content Expert for the Visual Communications program at the Rocky College of Art + Design in Denver, Colorado.

Over the years Clay Rivenbark has participated in many professional organizations, including the Dallas Society of Visual Communications, Society of Typographic Arts, and Industrial Design Society of America. He holds a M.F.A., from Texas A&M in Communication Design and B.S. in Design from the Institute of Design, Illinois Institute of Technology.
