Most students living in residence halls are required to have a 5-Day or 7-Day resident meal plan (view details). Both plans allow you to take advantage of our popular all-you-care-to-eat dining halls as often as you wish, Monday to Friday or seven days a week, and include FLEX for use in our retail food shops.

Which plan is right for me?
If you’ll be on campus at least one weekend per month, a 7-Day plan will typically pay for itself. The primary difference between the three 7-Day plans is the amount of FLEX, and the same is true of the three 5-Day plans. Simply decide how much FLEX you want to use for the semester and pick the appropriate plan. If you run out of FLEX, you can always purchase declining balance. Because declining balance rolls over semester to semester and any unused balance is fully refundable, it's virtually risk-free!
What is FLEX?
FLEX is a flexible spending privilege only available as part of meal plans. It can be used at any of our locations, including our 23 retail shops. Simply tell the cashier you’re paying with FLEX and swipe your student ID card. FLEX expires at the end of each semester.

Dining hall service and retail service are provided seven days a week.
*All FLEX expires at the end of each semster.
**Kerr Dining Hall is the weekend and inclement weather dining hall. Hours of operation may vary due to weather, university events or operating constraints.
Extra FLEX cannot be purchased independently of a meal plan.
Declining Balance can be added at any time online.
Discovery Park Meal Plan Conversion Options
Students who have classes at Discovery Park can purchase a Discovery Park Meal Plan or convert a Resident Meal Plan to a Discovery Park Meal Plan. This must occur prior to 5 p.m. on the second Friday after the resident halls open for the semester in the Dining Services office (Welcome Center #237). Proof of enrollment in classes at Discovery Park must be presented at the time of purchase or conversion.
Most conversions to a Discovery Park Meal Plan change the traditional "all-you-care-to-eat" meal plan to a block plan with Disco Dollars and FLEX. Disco Dollars work like FLEX, but are reserved for use at the retail restaurants in Discovery Park. The FLEX can be used at any retail dining location. The DP X-Combo Meal Plan continues the unlimited dining hall meals and converts the FLEX dollars into a X-Combo meal-per-day option.

DP X-Combo - Students on this plan exchange FLEX dollars for one daily combo meal at Discovery Park. The daily combo meal is the student's choice of one grill sandwich or one deli sandwich or one entrée, and includes the student's choice of one side item and a fountain beverage.

Declining Balance
Residents can also purchase declining balance if desired. Declining Balance is a great alternative for students who have used all their FLEX. Learn more.
You'll select a plan online when you sign up for housing, with the exception of Discovery Park Meal Plan Conversions, which must be purchased in our office (Welcome Center #237). Charges will be consolidated with your housing payments for your convenience.
