Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Community!
The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, commonly known as CLASS, is the largest college at UNT. We have over 9,300 students and more than 400 full-time faculty members. CLASS provides instruction to every undergraduate at UNT as part of the university’s core curriculum as well as specialized courses in the arts, communications, humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary programs spread throughout our 16 departments offering 160 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
Our mission – shared by faculty and students alike – is to kindle the thirst for truth, justice, and beauty; to foster cultural literacy and scientific investigation; and to cultivate thinking, speaking, and writing abilities characterized by clear expression and logically coherent, evidence-based arguments. We see these as the values, forms of knowledge, and skills most needed by citizens of a democracy and by productive members of the global workforce.
Many of the skills required in any profession (oral communication, critical thinking, writing, and working with various cultures) are learned within the CLASS community. Students graduating with a degree from CLASS enter into a variety of professions. I encourage you to visit with your advisors and professors, attend the dean’s open office hours for students, and stop by the Career Center to take advantage of the services they can offer you. We are all here to provide you opportunities for a fulfilling and successful future. Go Mean Green!
