Graduate: Gene Hargrove Graduate Fellowship (January 15, 2020 Deadline)
The fellowship, first established in fall 2013, at the request of the donor Eugene C. (Gene) Hargrove (retired emeritus provessor of philosophy in the UNT Department of Philosophy and Religion. This scholarship provides $1000 to the recipient. Depending on the income available from the endowment, one or more graduate students in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences will be given the fellowship each year. Graduate students in good standing in the department, as well as incoming graduate students, are eligible to receive the fellowship. The fellowship will be awarded on the basis of academic performance standards and financial need.
To be eligible the student must:
1. be a current or incoming graduate student in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas,
2. be enrolled as a full-time student in the semester that the fellowship is given (3 to 9 hours depending on the student's status), and
3. have a grade point average of at least 3.0.
To apply the student must:
1. submit a letter about his or her interests in environmental philosophy, and
2. provide a paper on environmental philosophy, for example, a term paper from a philosophy class (a writing sample for incoming students is acceptable).

Toulouse Graduate School Graduate Travel Grants
Toulouse Graduate School offers a limited number of competitive scholarships to selected graduate students who are in good academic standing. These travel grants are offered to support the costs of travel to professional meetings that are relevant to their degree.
To be eligible, graduate students:
- Must be presenting research or a creative activity which they have authored/co-authored. It must have been peer reviewed and accepted for presentation. If acceptance is pending, students can still apply, but the final award of a travel grant is contingent upon acceptance for presentation. Students who are simply attending a meeting without any active participation are ineligible for travel grant funding.
- Must have an approved degree plan on file in the Toulouse Graduate School.
- Must have a $100-$500 match already secured from the applicant's department, college, or other appropriate source. These funds are matched on a 1:1 basis. Eligible graduate students may apply for a maximum of $500 with matching funds (for a maximum total of $1,000).
- Must attend at least 3 TGS Professional Development Graduate Workshops per academic year. You can attend these workshops in person or live online stream. If for any reason, you are unable to attend a workshop, videos are available online. To verify that the video was watched, please fill out a form for each video viewed before completing an application. Please list the name and date of the workshops you attended or watched on the appropriate application field.
Applying for a Travel Grant
- To begin, download the Faculty Evaluation for Travel Grant Applicants and give this to the appropriate faculty members who will verify matching funds and provide a quick evaluation. This form can be completed and electronically signed by the appropriate parties. If you prefer to print this form and gather traditional signatures, you'll need to scan it and convert it to a PDF before submitting your application.

- Once your application is submitted, you'll receive a confirmation message. Your application will be reviewed during the next evaluation period and you'll be notified of acceptance or denial within two weeks of the submission deadline.

Undergraduate: Raupe Travel Grant
Raupe Travel Grant Funding:
The purpose of the B. Craig Raupe Travel Grant Fund is to assist undergraduate students and registered student organizations who are attending a conference that will not only benefit the university, but themselves as well, enriching the student with knowledge and a learning experience that they can't get in a classroom setting.Individual Students can receive up to $750 per semester towards their conference(s).Registered student organizations can receive up to $3,000 (up to $750 per student for up to 4 students) towards their conference(s).
Rules for Funding:
To receive funding, an organization must be officially registered with the Student Activities Center and meet all requirements set forth by the B. Craig Raupe Travel Grant By-Laws. All individuals receiving B. Craig Raupe Travel Grant funding must submit a copy of travel receipts showing that travel costs met or exceeded the award amount within 2 weeks following the conference or meeting. Failure to show proof of expenses can result in repayment to SGA. All individuals receiving B. Craig Raupe Travel Grant funding must serve for the betterment of campus life, present an opportunity for student involvement and provide equal access to all students where reasonable accommodations can be made.
Funding Process:
In order to receive any funding, ALL of the following must be done by a student organization:
1. Attend an SGA Resource Meeting.
2. Complete the online application (via OrgSync) by the deadline set by the Director of Student Affairs.
3. Present to the SGA Raupe Travel Grant Committee at the scheduled time set by the Director of Student Affairs.

Undergraduate: Samuel and Mabel Danford Scholarship in Religious Studies (March 1 Deadline)
The Samuel and Mabel Danford Scholarship in Religious Studies Fund is a fund created by Robert and Virginia Toulouse in honor of Samuel and Mabel Danford, Mrs. Virginia Toulouse's parents, to provide scholarships for undergraduate students in the Religious Studies Program at the University of North Texas in the Department of Philosophy and Religion. The scholarship of $1000 is awarded to one student every Fall term. Enquiries concerning the scholarship should be directed to philosophy@unt.edu.
To be eligible the student must:
1. Be a full-time student at the University of North Texas, unless the student is nearing completion of his or her degree program and does not need full-time enrollment;
2. Have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better at the university; and,
3. Be enrolled as a full-time student in Religious Studies in the Department of Philosophy and Religion Studies, having completed at least 60 credit hours of coursework.
The scholar is selected by the Scholarship Committee of the Department of Philosophy and Religion. The winner will be honored on Honors Day in the following April of the academic year. Undergraduate: Continental Philosophy Scholarship in Honor of Richard Owsley (paper submission deadline March 1)
A scholarship in honor of Professor Richard Owsley has been developed within the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas. When the fund generates income, an annual award of $500 will be given to one recipient each year.
To be eligible the student must:
1. Be an undergraduate major in the Department of Philosophy and Religion Studies;
2. Maintain full-time enrollment at the University, unless he or she has fewer than twice the number of semester hours required to be full-time remaiuing in his or her degree program;
3. Enrolled as a full-time student in Philosophy or Religious Studies at the University;
4. Submit a paper on any aspect of Continental Philosophy (for example, a term paper from a philosophy class). The paper should be ten to twenty pages in length, double-spaced, with footnotes or endnotes, and be formatted in accordance with the University of Chicago Manual of Style (see any issue of the journal Environmental Ethics or go to
http://www.cep.unt.edu/JournalStyle.pdf. (In the event that there are no submissions by undergraduates the scholarship may be offered to graduate students.)

Undergraduate: John Kimmey Memorial Scholarship (paper submission deadline March 1)
A scholarship in honor of Lecturer John Kimmey has been developed within the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas. The John Kimmey Scholar is the undergraduate honoree at Honor's Day and receives a stipend of $500. The award is made in the spring semester each year.

Undergraduate: Honors College Research Fellowships
These awards are open to all students, across all disciplines--seek to enhance academic excellence via the expansion of mentor-based undergraduate research. Such research will occur in a host of settings and contexts under individual faculty mentorship. Students who become Undergraduate Research Fellows will then take part in the spring-semester Scholars Day, at which they will contribute poster presentations, papers, or brief performing-arts productions. Participation in Scholars Day and continuing at UNT as students for two semesters beyond the semester of application are among the conditions for receipt of the $500 award.
