A 26 year-old-man was arrested after victims told police he chased them with a knife around 10 p.m. Friday near the intersection of North Bell Avenue and McKinney Street, according to a police report.

Police interviewed multiple parties involved and determined the man chased two different people while wielding a knife.

The man was found in the nearby wooded area, the report says. Police said they found a knife on him and arrested the man on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief.

1200 block of Cleveland Street — A caller told police a friend hit her and her two other friends after refusing to leave her residence around 3:30 a.m. Friday, according to a police report.

The 23-year-old caller said the man became angry when she asked him to leave and started to punch her in the face. The report shows he also hit the caller’s two other friends who were at the residence when she called them out to help her.

The suspect was gone when officers arrived. A report was taken and no arrests have been made.

1000 block of Laguna Drive — Officers observed scratch marks on a 26-year-old man’s neck while responding to a domestic dispute Friday evening, according to a police report.

The suspect wasn’t at the scene when officers arrived. The caller told police she hit him in the face. A report was taken.

1700 block of East McKinney Street — Police arrested a 57-year-old man after determining he was intoxicated in public Friday evening, according to a police report.

A caller told police a man was lying face-down on the ground and might need medical attention. When officers arrived, the man slurred unintelligibly in response to their questions, the report says. He was arrested and charged with public intoxication with three prior convictions.

From 7 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, the Denton Police Department handled 180 service and officer-initiated calls and made 17 arrests.
