Dean's Welcome

Welcome to the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at UNT Dallas! As the largest School on campus, our courses cut across almost all disciplines in the arts and sciences. We are home for the humanities, social sciences, life sciences and communication. We offer courses in languages, literature, history and political science. Our students major in such fields as psychology, biology, information technology, criminal justice, and the applied arts and sciences.  Importantly, they gain leadership skills, learn to think independently and become problem-solvers.

There are many reasons to choose UNT Dallas. You will find that our classes are small and taught by excellent instructors. Our faculty is talented and well-trained, and a great majority hold terminal degrees in their respective disciplines. Importantly, all are caring, innovative teachers dedicated to the success of their students. They will provide advice, mentoring and quality instruction as you move through your academic journey at UNT Dallas.

Not only will you have a chance to get to know your professors, you will also forge close ties with your peers. Opportunities abound for shared exchange — from study groups and student clubs to collaborative research labs. As a student at UNT Dallas, you will find our campus to be a site of friendship, creative expression and the energetic exchange of ideas. Our students graduate with a heightened sense of themselves and the world in which they live.

As a young university in growing southern Dallas, UNT Dallas is committed to academic excellence, community engagement and student success. We remain convinced that students trained in the liberal arts and sciences enter the work world with enhanced abilities and a distinct advantage. With skills in critical thought and analysis, experiential innovation, communication, reflection and research, our students leave UNT Dallas prepared for a rapidly changing world and global economy.

In the end, we believe four key characteristics set us apart:

  • Outstanding faculty
  • Pedagogical innovation
  • State-of-the-art facilities
  • The belief that our students — trained in the liberal arts and infused with traditions of service and community -- can change their worlds.

Please join us for this adventure.
