Cox Fires School Record To Open Bruzzy

ARGYLE, Texas – North Texas junior Lauren Cox fired a 6-under-par 66 to set a new school record for best round at the second annual The Bruzzy tournament at Lantana Golf Club on Monday.

UNT, the host team, is tied for 14th place after two rounds on Monday after shooting a second-round 292, which marked a 13-shot improvement over its opening-round total.

The highlight of the day for the Mean Green was Cox's second-round effort, which put her in seventh place, just four shots off the lead heading into Tuesday's final round.

"It's great to see Lauren break the school record," UNT coach Michael Akers said. "She loves Lantana and has so much confidence when she tees it up there. She works hard and is a great person. It is great to see her succeed."

The Mean Green will tee off at 8:30 a.m., from Holes 14-17, in a shotgun start, and will be paired with Missouri and Iowa.
