Lavern Stalians, MS Public Leadership
“Assignments we give to our interns are sometimes limited due to their expertise and level of maturity; however, Lavern demonstrated a tremendous ability to handle an array of responsibilities that are not commonly given to interns. Some of those areas included: case issue research; letter writing; meetings with community leaders; and training of other interns. Lavern even took on the challenge of working directly with a small city in District 30 to help drive economic development. Stephanie Sierra, BS Human Services Management & Leadership
"Stephanie Sierra started at TRM [Trinity River Mission] as an intern in Spring 2016. During her field placement, she served a very influential role in the creation of a logo for our Girls on a Mission program and provided marketing materials for various events. Upon finishing her internship, Stephanie applied to be a summer AmeriCorps member and served with the Believe and Achieve program. As a summer member, Stephanie stepped up to the plate and managed the College and Career curriculum for our middle and high school students. Currently, she is serving her second term as an AmeriCorps member. Just one month into programming and Stephanie is already creating another logo for the P.A.L.S program for boys, developing marketing materials for events, and co-advising seniors.
