Susan Squires consistently demonstrates leadership in the technology sector creating innovative product solutions and is a recognized expert on customer insights research. Most recently she has worked in Europe as a Senior Researcher / Team Lead at Trinity College Dublin's Technology Research of Independent Living Centre (TRIL), an Intel funded research initiative, where she helped develop easy-to-use Tele-Care communications devices for older adults. Her past work includes evaluative research for the Department of Education's initiative in Science, Math and Technology; mapped workflow of computational scientists on a special project for the Department of Defense and Department of Energy studying issues of productivity for the next generation supercomputer; and, led ethnographic research for a range of technology companies including Palm, Sun Microsystems, Yahoo, Sprint, Ericsson and SBC-Yahoo!. Her edited book, Creating Breakthrough Ideas (2002), chronicles the application of her research theory and methodology as used by anthropologists in business and design. Her work has been featured in publications such as USA Today, New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle,Christian Science Monitor, and Industry Standard. She received her Ph.D. in Anthropology from Boston University.
