Give a brief bio of yourself:

Hey ya’ll! My name is Joselyn Briseno, I’m from Dallas, TX and I’ve been working at UNT Dallas since September 12, 2016. I recently graduated from Texas A&M University-Commerce where I double majored in Sociology and Criminal Justice. While I was there, I was involved in various organizations including Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and I worked with high school students helping them with the whole college application process which is where I realized that I wanted to do that for a career. And what better place to do that than here right? J  I love hearing students stories and helping them achieve their goals! Outside of work I’m a horror movie fanatic who loves banana splits!

What’s your favorite thing about UNT Dallas?

My favorite thing about UNT Dallas is how warm and welcoming this campus is to everyone. We’re a small, diverse, campus that is growing at a rapid rate so it’s great to be able to contribute to that! I also love the idea of being a part of a university that offers so many opportunities to its students and being able to play a part in their academic growth and success!

What do you like about working at UNT Dallas?

What I like about working at UNT Dallas is the positive energy that flows around here. Right off the bat, everyone is super helpful towards each other because we all have the same purpose which is to help our students succeed and see them walk across the stage with them knowing that they accomplished something amazing.

What advice would you give to college-bound students?

The number one thing I would say to college-bound students is to not let deadlines sneak up on you! They may seem far away at first but with school, extracurricular activities, and life in general, they will be here before you know it. Also, it’s ok to not know exactly what it is you want to do with your life, it’s normal! What I suggest is to find a school with majors you’re interested in and to take advantage of the Career Development services that universities offer. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, we’re here to help you! Lastly, get involved on campus, you’ll meet lifelong friends and it will make your college experience even more memorable!
