Students can purchase computer hardware with educational discounts through agreements with UNT and certain vendors.

For most students, the "educational student specials" that stores and online vendors offer will be fine for either Windows or Mac users.  Call the UIT Help Desk, should you need assistance.
Recommended minimum hardware configuration includes the following.
                8GB of RAM   |    250 GB hard drive   |   Microsoft Office – installed or via the cloud   |    virus protection software

Software Discounts

  • Discount on Adobe Creative Cloud – Students and Employees: Adobe products available to students at reduced price through untsystem.onthehub.com
    • Creative cloud Suite is available for $19.99 a month.
    • Creative photography suite is available for $9.99 a month
  • McAfee VirusScan: FREE!  McAfee VirusScan is available at no cost to UNT students. Download it from Information Security.
  • Microsoft® Office: FREE! Your Office 365 EagleConnect account entitles you to receive five copies of Microsoft Office for your desktop and mobile devices at no cost! 

  • Microsoft Imagine: Development software for business, information technology, computer science and engineering students at no charge. These free programs are the full versions of Visual Studio, XNA Game Studio, Windows Server, and more. To access Imagine, students must create an Imagine account and verify their attendance at UNT using their student email address.

  • UNT Official Bookstore: The UNT Official Bookstore is affiliated with Barnes and Noble and located on the first floor of the University Union. Check the UNT Official Bookstore website for information about their education discounts on hardware and software.
