Printmaking
Our Printmaking program supports students in their development of a personal vision and studio practice informed by a rich tradition and ever-expanding approaches to imagemaking. In our careully maintained printmaking studios students explore intaglio, relief, lithography, screen printing, monotype, artist’s bookmaking and interdisciplinary processes integratrating both handmade and photo/digital matrixes.
Our Printmaking faculty are nationally and internationally recognized professional artists who train students with technical skills, instill a sense of conceptual rigor, promote creative research and mentor students for professional development opportunities. Our program collaborates with print businesses in the region to offer students industry experience and develop professional networks. The Printmaking Association of North Texas Students (PANTS) organizes exhibitions, community events, field trips, fund raisers, awards, visiting artist events and portfolio exchanges.
Students have opportunities to assist visiting artists and master printers at P.R.I.N.T., UNT’s collaborative fine art press. P.R.I.N.T. Press trains students in the environment of a professional print shop by providing a guided environment for them to work with recognized artists and master printers. By working hands-on in the studio, they assist the production, curation, exhibition and marketing of prints while testing industry developments and research.
Students pursuing the BFA create a substantial portfolio of artworks that culminates in a group exhibition. The MFA program integrates artistic research, contemporary theory, and practice culminating in a thesis exhibition.

Student accomplishments
Sarah Ellis
Sarah Ellis (MFA 2018) nominated to serve as Student Representative on 2015–16 Executive Board of Southern Graphics Council International (SGCI). Read about it in SGCI's latest newsletter, Graphic Impressions! Sarah received her BFA in Printmaking from The University of Akron in 2014. She is currently an MFA Candidate in Printmaking at the University of North Texas. Through a variety of print media and book arts, her work explores the dynamics between domestic craft, gender roles, and the continuity of human behavior. During her first year of graduate school, she has had the pleasure of working as the Graduate Assistant at P.R.I.N.T Press as well as a Teaching Assistant in Drawing. She currently lives in Denton, Texas, with her fiancé and their corgi.
