At the UNT Libraries, engagement with the community is fundamental to the work of Subject Librarians. Engagement by Subject Librarians entails a level of sustained, high-quality interactions between the Subject Librarian and patrons. Subject Librarians have seven key areas of activity or awareness: engagement, teaching and learning, research services, collection development, digital tools, scholarly communication and outreach.

Subject Librarians work in partnership with one or more academic departments, schools or colleges to enhance the Libraries’ collections and increase faculty and student access to library resources in all formats through research, teaching and technology.
