Canvas

Canvas  is a secure, web-based learning management system environment that supports content delivery, online collaboration, and assessment.

Beginning Spring 2019, UNT Dallas will welcome canvas as its one and only learning management system. Blackboard will no longer be utilized. In preparation for the transition, a select number of courses will be piloted in Canvas during Summer and Fall 2018.

Blackboard

Blackboard Learn is a secure, web-based learning management system environment that supports content delivery, online collaboration, and assessment.

DLIT offers both online and classroom training (open labs) for faculty on Blackboard Learn.

Respondus Lockdown Browser

Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment in Canvas. When students use LockDown Browser to access a quiz, they are unable to print, copy, visit other websites, access other applications, or close a quiz until it is submitted for grading. Quizzes created for use with LockDown Browser cannot be accessed with standard browsers.

Turnitin

Turnitin helps students learn to cite their work properly and aids faculty in ensuring academic integrity on written assignments. The University has purchased and integrated Turnitin software into Blackboard Learn. Faculty may create Turnitin assignments in Canvas or Blackboard to take advantage of the Originality Checker, GradeMark and PeerMark services offered by Turnitin. Below are links to instructions on how to set up and use a Turnitin assignment in your Canvas or Blackboard course(s).

Panopto

Panopto is a lecture capture tool that allows for an enhanced student learning experience and increased instructional efficiency. Record your screen, audio, and video content in the classroom or from your desktop, laptop, or iOS device. Content is easily uploaded to your Canvas or Blackboard course(s). Students can pause, search, review, and add notes to lectures based on their individual learning needs.

Accessibility

Panopto offers accessibility features that allows users to easily navigate and read the Panopto web interface. The web interface supports screen readers for all available creator and viewer interfaces. The web interface also support keyboard access, allowing you to use the tab key to access all available functions. All sessions fully support adding and displaying captions.

Digital Media

We offer a range of media production services to UNTD faculty for online and blended course creation and enhancement. Project requests are made through our instructional technology staff. Turn-around time for projects may vary depending on the scope of your project and the availability of our production queue.

Audio/Video Recording Release Form

The Office of Distance Learning and Instructional Technologies must obtain a signed release form from any person, other than the instructor(s) appearing in a photo, video or audio to be used by the university for educational content, publications, marketing materials, websites or any other communications. No photo, video, audio recording or other multimedia project may be published, posted online or shared publicly without the express written consent of all participants. Each guest speaker or participant must sign the Approval Form, Permission, Waiver, and Release (00102769).

iPad Checkout

The Office of DLIT offers iPad checkout for faculty to use for instructional purposes. To check out iPads for instructional purposes, please submit an equipment reservation request. You will also need to fill out an in-house custody receipt since you will be responsible for the equipment while you have it. Pickup after normal business hours or late drop-offs (after 5PM) on weekdays must be pre-arranged with our office when requesting a reservation and is granted on a case-by-case basis. Please request check out a minimum 48 hours in advance. If 48 advance notice not provide, we can not guarantee your request will be approved.
