Preparing Tomorrow's Educators

The primary function of the Educator Preparation Office (EPO) is to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and our district partners to prepare profession-ready educators equipped to take on whatever their next challenge may be.

On September 1st, 2018, the TExES Advising Office (TAO) and COE Certification Officer will officially become part of the EPO. Services available through the EPO encompass these areas:

  • Clinical Practice: coordination of field experience and clinical student teaching
  • Foliotek: the EPO’s new Data Management System
  • TExES Advising Office: provides TExES Certification Exam practice test support and guidance
  • Certification Officer: reviews all certification-related requests for initial and advanced programs
  • Associate Dean for Educator Preparation: Coordinates and liaises with the Texas Education Agency, professional accreditation agencies, district partners, and academic departments to further student success through continuous improvement
  • President’s Edge:Created in 2011 and funded by the Office of the UNT President, the program offers GED and Citizenship Exam preparation, as well as instruction in ESL, Spanish, and computer literacy free of charge to all UNT staff and employees
