For her work and contributions to the field of Animal Assisted Therapy Dr. Cynthia Chandler is the 2016 recipient of the American Counseling Association's Professional Development Award, a 2015 recipient of the Thomas Frist Humanitarian Award from the Hospital Corporation of America, and the 2009 recipient of the Thelma Duffey Vision and Innovation Award from the Association for Creativity in Counseling which is a division of the American Counseling Association. She is a 2006 recipient of the Beyond Limits Award for Pet Partners Instructor and Evaluator along with her dogs Rusty and Dolly. And, she is a recipient of the 2006 Texas Counseling Association’s Writer of the Year Award for the first edition of her book, Animal Assisted Therapy in Counseling.
